Robert Haslam, Pony Bob as he was known, was a long distance horse rider who gained notoriety for two of the fastest long rides in history. One was when he was a rider for the POny Express and he covered an amazing distance on a marathon 44 hour non stop ride to cover for injured and missing riders during a particularly bloody indian war. The second was another amazing feat of endurance that he achieved as an escort for the famous Wells Fargo stage coach company.
