The
long awaited short film from Cobblestone Studios is now complete.
The project is set during the Punic wars around 210 B.C shortly
after Hannibal and his massive armies had massacred the Romans
and Cannae. Our story picks up two weeks later as a suspicious
and cautious group of generals gather in a field tent to discuss
their recourse. Given their tired and weakened state they
have privately decided that rest and time to train new soldiers
is what they need most.
They are accountable
to a new Imperator who is young and impulsive and desperate
to impress his father at all costs. The young leader wants
Hannibal's blood for the glory of Rome. The more experienced
commanders know this is a mistake. Scipio, a young but grizzled
general decides to speak out against the Imperator.
Risking his life,
Scipio speaks his mind to the Imperator, pleading with him
to see the reasoning of restraint. Scipio's pleas fall on
deaf ears as the young Imperator sees only the glory of battle
even though as the son of a senator he has never seen the
battlefield.
As Scipio's frustration
increases so does the level of tension in the tent. Then almost
without warning Scipio attacks.
In the wake of the
assassination of the Imperator, the other generals must decide
what to do as loyalties and alliances quickly form. The story
unfolds around the question of who will be loyal to whom.
Powerful performances
by an impressive cast make this epic a sure hit on the festival
circuit.
A feature version
of the story is already in development and should begin production
early in the new year.
